Sarah Halberda

July 24, 1941 – November 22, 2014

Sarah A. Halberda, age 73, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, November 22, at her home, surrounded by family in Lake, Michigan.  She was born the daughter of David J. and Millie (Anderson) Hostetler on July 24, 1941, in Kokomo, Indiana.  She married Thomas A. Halberda on April 17, 1965, and he survives her.

She dedicated her life to nurturing her four children. Sarah was known as a loving mother, wife, grandmother, sister, and especially friend.  Sarah had grown up in the Mennonite Church, and she and Tom moved to Central Michigan from Kokomo, Indiana in 1977.   Sarah was an avid reader and enjoyed crafts, sewing, and crocheting.

Survivors include her husband, Tom, her children, Rod Halberda of Edwardsburg, Mi., Shelly (Alan) McCoy of Clare, Cindy Halberda of Lake, and Dr. Randy (Lori) Halberda of Galesburg, Mi., her grandchildren, Nathan McCoy, Amanda McCoy, Jordan Halberda, Andrew McCoy, Nicholas McCoy, and Emma Halberda. Also surviving are her siblings, Mary Ann Hostetler, Betty Beachy, Silvia Stutzman, Lloyd Hostetler, Virginia Wenger, Amos Hostetler, and Kathy Hostetler.  She was preceded in death by her parents.
