UTICA – Mrs. Delores A. “Dee” (Alito) Mitzler, age 88, peacefully passed on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at MVHS at St. Luke’s Healthcare with her loving family by her side.
Born in Utica on May 16, 1930, Delores was the daughter of the late Frank and Julia (Lauria) Alito. Raised and educated locally, she was a graduate of T.R. Proctor High School/Class of 1948. On September 11, 1954 she married Robert C. “Bob” Mitzler who passed away on September 24, 2016.
Dee worked at the MVCC Health Center for a number of years, the position from which she retired in 2001. A faithful parishioner of the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes, Dee was a member of the Altar Rosary Society, the Christ Child Society, and the Intercessory Prayer Group. Dee cherished her role as a Eucharistic Minister at both her church and The Pines nursing home. She was fulfilled through all opportunities to volunteer, especially with the parish spiritual bereavement ministry. Dee always treasured her time spent socializing at the NY Mills Senior Center.
Dee is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Lourdes and Bernie DePasquale, Lynn Ann and Andrew Dewhurst, and Maureen and Victor Wroblewski; her son and daughter-in-law, Robert Mark and Katie Mitzler; her grandchildren, Michael Saladino; Andrew and Ann Dewhurst, Stephanie Dewhurst, Lauren and Brayden Merrell, Christine Dewhurst; Erica and Nick Allen, Kia and Michael Smith, Jocelyn Wroblewski; Meredith Mitzler, Ryan Mitzler, and Benjamin Mitzler; great-grandson, Cameron Allen; and sister and brother-in-law, Joan and Nicholas Piperata. She also leaves her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and in-laws, including Patty Alito, Roberta Mitsler, Susie Vassallo, Carol Mitsler, Margaret Dodge and Bill and Joyce Dempsey. She was predeceased by her brother, Pasquale A. Alito; and her sisters and brothers-in-law, Philomena M. “Phyl” and Fred Dziuban, Sally Cummings, Ann and Sam Fusco, and Dick Bonanza.
